Frequently Asked Questions
To schedule your first appointment, reach out to Ally directly to set up a complimentary 15-minute consultation call. This call is an opportunity for you both to get to know each other and determine if we’re the right fit. Ally will listen to your reasons for seeking therapy, share information about her approach and practice, and answer any questions you may have—so you can feel confident moving forward.
Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and create a safe space for your story. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, your goals, and any concerns you have. There’s no pressure to share everything at once — it’s all about starting at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
The length of therapy varies for everyone because it depends on your unique goals, challenges, and pace of healing. Some people find a few sessions helpful for gaining clarity or support through a specific issue, while others benefit from longer-term work to make deeper changes. We’ll work together to create a plan that feels right for you, regularly checking in to adjust as needed. Ultimately, therapy is about your comfort and growth, not a set timeline.
I accept NYSHIP, Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, UnitedHealthCare, Carelon Behavioral Health, Northwell Direct, and optum. I can also offer private pay options and out-of-network. Fees vary depending on the type of service. If you’re unsure about your coverage, I’m happy to help you check your benefits or discuss affordable options. Transparency and accessibility are important to me.
Most clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum and support. Depending on your needs and progress, we may adjust the frequency to biweekly or monthly. We’ll find a rhythm that works for you and your goals.
I work with teens, young adults, and adults, offering a supportive, understanding space tailored to the unique challenges and growth opportunities at each stage of life.
It’s common to feel discouraged if past therapy didn’t meet your needs. Every therapist has a different style, and sometimes the fit isn’t right. At Next Chapter Counseling, I prioritize creating a collaborative and individualized space. We’ll work together to find approaches that resonate with you and support your growth.
A good therapeutic relationship is based on trust, respect, and feeling heard. After a few sessions, you should feel comfortable and understood. If you ever feel unsure or have concerns, please bring them up — open communication helps us adjust or explore other options if needed. Your comfort and progress are the priority.
Life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule, please try to let me know at least 24 hours in advance. This allows me to offer the time to someone else and reschedule with you as smoothly as possible. Late cancellations or missed sessions without notice may be subject to a fee, which we’ll discuss upfront.
